Summer 2015 embraces us with a tropical heat tickling our flipper feet for a step in the perfect beach getaway. To take a dip and chow with the family and barkada have become an all-time Filipino summer bucket-list. As one of the country’s iconic beaches, Pearl Farm Beach Resort promises a summer retreat for all. It has once again celebrated its annual Summer Fun Party, dubbed as the Colors of Summer Party, last May 2.
The Colors of Summer Party was opened through a beer toast from DOT Regional Director Roberto Alabado, General Manager Josu Mikel Villaverde and Sales Manager Kathy Dizon. Hosted by Kapamilya Claudette Centeno, the party featured Davao icons with a bikini collection from Ross Sevilla, tribal dances from Tribu K’Mindanaoan, live music from Davao Music Authority, and party music from DJ Torch Gacuma.
Everyone had a blast playing games with prizes from Mary Kay, Canon Philippines, Microtel Inn & Suites Davao, and PAGOR Davao.
Guests were wowed by celebrity guest Bangs Garcia’s steamy rendition of Pussycat Doll’s Don’t Cha. She was then game to do an ala dating contest with lucky men vying for her. Sexy star Juliana Palermo, chef of Davao’s J. Palermo’s Diner, was also spotted.
Well-known Davao personalities who partied included Trisha Corpuz, Deng Fuentes, Henry Tacio, and Ana Basilio. The resort also thanks Samal Tourism Council’s participation represented by Jennifer Carriaga and Macky Homez, and SolidTeam AdPro Services (creators of the Davao City Guide & Map) represented by Marigold Gonzaga.
Not even rain can stop the guests from partying as DJ Torch Gacuma dropped party beats in the Maranao Beach Foam Party. Guests danced the night away catching a multi-hued display of fireworks.

A Blissful Holy Week
Holy Week, they say, is a period of 3 R’s: reflection, repentance and rebirth. A time when we recollect the Passion of Christ together with our loved ones. At Pearl Farm Beach Resort, set was a Blissful Holy Week for local and international guests who found Southern solemnity and hospitality for the long weekend.
Jumpstarting the week, Maunday Thursday was flocked with guests who embraced the summer heat. Guests beat the heat with the resort’s summer-round Halo-Halo Station available at Maranao Poolside. Free cocktails were served at Boardwalk amidst the Mt. Apo sunset vista. An Island Breeze Dinner provided guests with a galore of seafood and grilled food, and a serenade by Davao’s Island Breeze Quartet.
The resort organized a Way of the Cross, joined by both guests and staff, on Good Friday. Stations that offered free buko juice and cookies delighted guests after the procession. Free cocktails were again served at Boardwalk. Well-known, homegrown magician Gino Janducayan wowed kids and kids-at-heart throughout the magical evening.
Black Saturday graced the afternoon with a sunset zumba and cocktails at Boardwalk. A Mindanaoan Theme Night by USeP Pangkat Silayan Theatre Collective, along with a variety of Filipino cuisines, was relished by guests who danced tinikling the night away.
Sunday kicked off with a sunrise zumba followed by an Easter Mass at Malipano Island. Fun-filled events like Easter Egg Hunting, Egg Painting, and Face Painting gave families bonding moments. From Thursday to Sunday, guests had a nightly ball in catching the Lenten-Theme Movie Nights and Bingo plays.
Now that the Blissful Holy Week has passed, Pearl Farm Beach Resort welcomes the blissful summer with colors and waves. Febtastic Pearl Farm!
February may be the shortest month of the year. But at Pearl Farm Beach Resort, it was a fantastic, eventful February that’s sure to last.
The month marked the return of the resort’s noteworthy Themed Nights that started back on 2007 with then and now Spanish, General Manager Mikel Villaverde. Mindanaoan Night kicked off on February 06, with authentic Filipino cuisines and a cultural presentation from USeP’s Pangkat Silayan Theatre Collective. With Reggae Night last February 28, guests reveled in a Rastafarian-inspired dinner that offered a la Caribbean food and entertainment by Capu Band. Mindanao Night and Reggae Night betide every Friday and Saturday respectively. Upcoming themed nights include Romantic Night every Monday, Spanish Night every Wednesday, and Magic Night every Thursday.
Love is truly warmer by the beach. A poolside zumba class by Metro Lifestyle Gym welcomed guests to an invigorating Valentine’s Day morning. Dinner was extra romantic with special tables at boardwalk for couples to feast at while being serenaded by Polish violinist Robert Stormowski.
The resort was enveloped with the spirit of Chinese New Year on February 19. Dragon dancers greeted guests, most of whom are Chinese, upon their arrival. The night turned into a celebration with Chinese dishes, and performances of Chinese culture from Colegio de San Ignacio and of magic from United Mahikeros of Mindanao.

Starting on March 08, guests and caffeine lovers can now unwind and chow at Café Marina located inside Pearl Farm Marina, Lizada Village, Lanang. The café offers hot, iced and blended joes made from Italian coffee beans. A variety of treats are sold as perfect pairs for the drinks.

The Holidays at Pearl Farm
For two weeks and a day, Pearl Farm Beach Resort had been the holiday retreat that homed guests from both local and foreign roots. Lined-up events and activities turned every day into merriment. Starting off with the annual Lighting of Parola last December 16, the resort embraced the spirit of fellowship and solidarity with the theme One Love for Christmas. It was led by General Manager Josu Mikel Villaverde, who was accompanied by ANFLOCOR Vice President for Cash & Bank Susan Matus, in lighting the iconic Parola. Guests from ANFLOCOR, public and private sectors, travel agencies, and media graced the event. Captivating everyone’s soft spots, UP Mindanao Koro Kantahanay performed acapela Christmas songs throughout the evening.
Up ‘tilChristmas Eve, the resort was filled with soulful holiday songs sung by duet Chinky Amparo and Lyra Arriola, USeP Harmonia Polifonica Chorale, San Pedro College’s Coro Expressivo, and the Choristers of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish – Obrero. Toys and treats were given to the children of Brgy. Adecor, Kaputian on Christmas Day as a way of giving back to the community. December 26 featuredDabawenyo Magikero Gino Alonzo Janducayan who showcased comical tricks of magic and ventriloquism.The following day, a Mindanaoan theme enveloped the night with authentic Mindanaoan cuisines and aspecial number from the Kalumon Performing Ensemble.On December 29, a Videoke King from the guests was hailed as a karaoke contest was held during dinner. Then guests flocked the face painting booth the next day. Cocktails, bingo and movie night were consecutively done from the 27th to the 30th. The New Year Countdown was jam-packed with guests coming from more than ten (10) countries, who were entertained by the ZySix Band and Utopia Band. The Spiral Firedancers exhibited fire-poi dances that instantly wooed the crowd. Guests had their ala torotot festival as they blew their torotots right before the splendid, multi-hued fireworks display.

A Walking Dead Halloween at Pearl Farm Beach Resort
The serene and relaxing Pearl Farm Beach Resort transformed into a gory Halloween park to mimic the setting of the popular TV series, The Walking Dead. The resort was decked with Halloween decors such as jack-o’-lanterns, candles, coffins, grave yard, and zombie effigies. To complement the spooky set-up, Pearl Farm had some of their staff dress up like zombies and other elemental creatures.
At the Parola, the guests were welcomed with exciting activities that included face-painting, hair braiding, and photo booth. The kids enjoyed watching the guest artist who skillfully painted their faces with colorful animal and flower patterns. Other guests also wore Halloween props at the photo booth to capture their Halloween moments at Pearl Farm.
Halloween celebration would have been definitely incomplete without a touch of magic. So at night during the buffet dinner at the Maranao Restaurant, a magic show dazzled all guests who were both young and young at heart. The magician performed enchanting and exciting tricks plus funny puppet shows to boot.
The excitement did not end there as the resort staff in their Halloween costumes bested out each other in the Halloween costume competition. They spooked around the Maranao Restaurant and exhibited their corpselike choreography to the guests. The restaurant dishes also exhibited the Halloween ambience with the frightful savory food and scary delights in the buffet dinner. And to cap the spooky night, a movie-viewing with popcorns and drinks was prepared for the film lovers in the resort.
